Kutless is currently touring with Shine Bright Baby, Audio Adrenaline and Finding Favour on their Change a Life tour. One of the stops they all made was at Celebration Sunday, part of the Kentucky Derby Festival concert series at Waterfront Park.
The Band
Kutless brought a great show to the stage, and we were honored to be able to photograph them during their set. Jon Micah Sumrall has such a powerful voice, full of emotion, that you can’t help but get caught up in the moment. The band is from Portland, Oregon, and was formed in 1999 – but they were originally called Call Box when they originally formed as a campus worship band at Warner Pacific College. Their current album is called Glory and can be found on all your major music purchasing sites (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, etc).
Kutless is: Jon Micah Sumrall (vocals), James Mead (guitar), Kyle Peek (drums), Nick de Partee (guitar), and Neal Cameron (bass).
They are signed to BEC Recordings along with Shine Bright Baby, Jeremy Camp, The Museum, and All Things New just to name a few.
If you like bands like Third Day, Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk (yeah, I know, stepping back old school), Newsboys…you’ll love these guys! We would love to catch them again, for sure!
Kutless Military Mission Project
One thing I recently discovered Kutless does is called Kutless Military Mission Project. For select shows, the band provides free tickets for service members. This was started by the band to help give back to our military and to say “thanks” for everything our service members do. The band also gives a portion of their merchandise proceeds to Operation Heal Our Patriots, a Samaritan’s Purse project that “…focuses on bringing spiritual refreshment, physical renewal, and marriage enrichment to wounded and injured U.S. military service members and their spouses.” Let’s get the word out about both these great projects, folks!
Rocking on the Waterfront…..
Here are a few of the shots we got from their set… hope y’all enjoy!
